Aviator Nation News

For this year's Lollapalooza, 2013's Best New Menswear Designer in America Paige Mycoskie of Aviator Nation lent a hand making a collection of low-key and stylish T-shirts, trucker hats, board shorts, and tank tops, and even kids clothing for the mini concert-goers. The collection is available solely at the festival through the weekend.
Paige Mycoskie, the designer behindCalifornia fashion brand,Aviator Nation, is all about 1970s nostalgia.  She has truly captured the good vibrations that spell outWest Coast style through the worn-in vintage feel, retro surfer dude, and hippie that can be seen in all of her apparel. Her ability to infuse music, which she believes promotes global change, into all of her endeavors is impressive to say the least.
Although Aviator Nation's retro beach essentials are practically synonymous with Cali's coastal-cool lifestyle, it had yet to make a splash in the OC — that is, until last week, when the LA-based basics brand officially opened its fourth SoCal shop in Laguna Beach.

Unveiled last Friday, Aviator Nation’s store in Laguna Beach, Calif., evokes a beach bungalow with a stained glass window designed like a setting sun that fills a room with warm light; striped murals; vintage floral wallpaper, and white plank ceilings that match the glossy floors.

After years of requests to open a store in Orange County we've finally decided on Laguna Beach!  With a great surf break just a block away we've chosen our new location at 1143 South Pacific Coast Hwy.  Just yesterday the lease was signed and we are planning to work fast to get the store open for the summer! Stay tuned and follow us on Instagram/Facebook for updates and photos as we begin our OC Journey!
It's been 10 months since surf lifestyle store Aviator Nation took over the former Haight Ashbury Vintage space on the southwest corner of Haight & Ashbury. Now that they've had a chance to settle in, we sat down with the brand's San Francisco director (and former pro surfer) Julie Cox to learn about the store's look, its series of free concerts, and how they're liking life in the Haight.
Four campaign managers from the non-profit Global Poverty Project (GPP) modeled an array of casual merchandise on Sunday, all reflecting Global Citizen’s cool style. They sported tank tops, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats and a limited edition collection of Aviator Nation sunglasses. With the purchase of these conscious goods, available on Sept. 26 online and at the festival, consumers and concertgoers can also display their support since proceeds benefit GPP.

Aviator Nation surfboards have been a long time coming. They encompass an epic part of the 1970's laid-back  California lifestyle, and have been a passion project of our founder, Paige for the past ten years. Finally, her dream of creating the perfect Rainbow riding machine, has come to fruition.

Over the last several months, Paige has been working closely with legendary Santa Barbara shaper, Bruce Fowler and iconic glass man, Bob Haakenson to develop the first Aviator Nation Surfboard.

When Aviator Nation was asked to participate in Austin City Limits Music Festival Paige Mycoskie (designer/founder) wanted to do something special for the musicians themselves. She wanted the musicians to have a "safe place" they could relax in between sets in "Authentic Aviator Nation Style". And just like that, The Aviator Nation TIPI was born! Paige designed the tipi and worked with authentic Native Americans in Montana to make this hand painted creation come to life. The Tipi created the perfect escape for Artists back stage to lounge between sets, jam out with vintage instruments and listen to vinyl. Aviator Nation also created custom ACL gear that was gifted to the musicians.

Raised by a creatively nurturing family of artists and entrepreneurs, Paige Mycoskie took to becoming a Jill-of-all-trades from an early age. Influenced by days spent in her grandmother’s loft crafting with an endless variety of mediums, Mycoskie quickly realized the intangible benefits of living a creatively expressive lifestyle. “Creativity comes from feeling like you have no limits, and without restrictions you can evolve in a lot of different ways.” Upon realizing the raw potential for creating timeless clothing, Mycoskie moved her four-member team from her Venice garage into the space Aviator Nation currently occupies on Venice’s Abbot Kinney, where she intended to sell her clothes purely to make rent.
